About Us
The club was founded in 1877 by George Hunter Peers to provide poorly paid men of Wallasey Village a place to go and spend an evening without the temptation of drink.
After 106 years the club’s members found sufficient funds to purchase the premises which they still maintain to this day.
The club is a temperance society which has charitable status and activities include a crown green bowls section and a snooker section.
Bowls
The non-league club has a large bowling green proudly maintained by the groundsman and situated in a sheltered shrub and flower garden with benches to sit, chat, and watch the games.
There is a secure clubhouse where lockers are available for members to store their bowls and a notice board to advise the various competitions/friendly matches during the season.
During the season the green is open every day from 1pm (weather permitting)
There is also a tea room which overlooks the green where for a nominal fee refreshments are available.
Snooker
There are four excellent full-size well-maintained tables in the snooker room.
The room has secure storage for members’ cues and blackout blinds to minimise the light. Each snooker table has its own clock meter where members pay 20p for 15 minutes of light for their games.
The snooker captain organises friendly competitions for the more competitive players and these competitions are handicapped accordingly.
The snooker room is open daily from 10 am until 10 pm and refreshments are available for a small donation.
Every member has their own fob key for entry into the secure snooker room.
Social Room
The social room is a multi-purpose facility used for members’ activities and is also available for hire for non-members and organisations. There is a small kitchen area where refreshments can be made.
Toilets for men and ladies are available and access can be gained from both inside and outside the building.
CCTV cameras are installed inside all areas and around the perimeter and are monitored on a rolling basis
No smoking, vaping or alcohol is allowed on the premises.
A great place for a few games of snooker in the afternoon and to have yourself a coffee.
